....It is about two women discovering and proving that it is never too late to figure out what you want to be when you "grow up." Julia Child didn't publish her first cook book until she was 50. Amy Adams was going to give up on acting right after she filmed Junebug because she was turning 30 and her career was going "nowhere" (and then she got her first Oscar nom from that job!). Nora finds herself thinking every ten years or so, "Is this it?", so then she'll explore something new - like directing. Meryl worries that every job will be her last and still balances a 30-year marriage and being the mom to 4 kids. It is refreshing and reassuring to think that just because life isn't always going in the projected trajectory by a certain time or a certain age, that we are ALL trying to figure "it" out. Even some of the most successful women that I admire are feeling the same doubts and insecurities every step of the way too. And just knowing that there is always another possibility around the corner that we may have never dreamed of, just waiting for us to discover it, sounds like just the type of medicine we all need.
What do you think? Are you interested in seeing this movie? Or are you planning on skipping it? I have a bad feeling it is going to make me want to learn how to cook...
